Homefront: The Revolution Suffers From Crippling Performance Issues on PS4, Xbox One and PC

Reviews for Homefront: The Revolution have begun to appear online, with Dambuster Studio’s new FPS sequel reportedly suffering from performance issues on PS4, Xbox One and PC that range from the irritating to the crippling.

According to a number of outlets, the console version of the game suffers from an awful frame rate that, even with the day one patch installed, sees the game struggling to handle some of its busier stages. According to VideoGamer, an early raid mission “slowed to a crawl” during their playthrough on PS4, with the review noting that “exterior gameplay was little better,” adding: “Texture quality is also worse [than the PC version], but the frame rate is the real killer, so much so that I would struggle to recommend the game to anyone at all.”

The PC version has its share of problems, too, with IGN bemoaning the game’s “surprising number of bugs,” adding: “In addition to constant framerate drops and slowdowns, enemies will frequently spawn on top of you as you’re walking around, or may disappear entirely as you move around them.” The review also criticizes the game’s checkpoint save system, which would frequently respawn the player “in the center of a large group of enemies.” The review continues: “That one was extra fun because, with no option to restart the mission or generate a custom save, my only options were to repeatedly try to fight my way through or start the whole game over again.”

Jim Sterling also posted a video highlighting some of the issues he experienced in his PC playthrough of the game, which you can view below:

Outside of Homefront: The Revolution‘s performance issues, the game is also attracting very unfavorable reviews across the board. With it being reported that the issues the technical issues reported throughout the game are prevalent even after the day one patch is installed, it remains to be seen whether publisher Deep Silver will release another patch for the game shortly following its release in order to fix these problems. If not, then we could be seeing one of the biggest launch day disasters of the year.
