Quick Cocktails | How To Make A Blood Orange Margarita

“Sicilian oranges, better known as blood oranges, have become one of the trendiest cocktail ingredients in recent years,” says Kevin Denton, Pernod Ricard USA National Mixologist. Unlike navel oranges that have been modified over the years to watery blandness, most blood oranges have a richer orange flavor, tart acidity, and the characteristic beautiful color. “Tequila does great with orange and  lime, which makes this drink an ideal cocktail for showcasing the roasty agave flavors of Avion.”

How To Make A Blood Orange Margarita

Shake one up with big ice cubes. “They’ll cool the drink quickly without watering it down too much,” says Denton. “I like mine on the rocks with a half-salt rim, but it’s great up as well.” If you prefer your drink frozen, add a half ounce of agave nectar to the recipe. “Don’t worry, it won’t make the drink too sweet. Frozen drinks add a lot more water, the agave helps to carry the flavor in spite of the extra dilution.”
