American Ninja Warrior Joins CTV Summer Schedule

Guts. Gumption. Glory. The world’s ultimate obstacle course has arrived in Canada with a vengeance – CTV announced today that pop-culture juggernaut American Ninja Warrior has been added to the network’s leading Summer 2016 schedule.

A consistent Top 10 show last summer in the U.S., American Ninja Warrior is the next big franchise to land on CTV, joining all-new seasons of hit series The Amazing Race Canada and Masterchef this summer. Fresh off its most-watched season ever, the surging competition reality series will now anchor Monday nights for CTV’s Summer 2016 schedule, with full scheduling information to be announced in the coming weeks.

“This Ninja Warrior format is a champion, and for us, offers another great co-viewing appointment for CTV viewers coast-to-coast-to-coast,” said Mike Cosentino, Senior Vice-President of Programming at CTV Networks, in a press release. “More popular than ever before, we look forward delivering this new Monday night summer anchor on CTV.”

“We are thrilled that CTV will be adding one of the most riveting, heart-pounding competition shows to their summer schedule,” added Ron Suter, Executive Vice President at NBCUniversal Television & New Media Distribution Canada. “American Ninja Warrior is a hit in the U.S. and now Canadian viewers will be able to experience the jaw-dropping obstacle courses in the comfort of their homes.”

In the action-packed, all-new season of American Ninja Warrior, competitors tackle a series of  challenging obstacle courses in both City Qualifying and City Finals rounds across America. The series is hosted by TV personality Matt Iseman, along with former NFL player Akbar Gbajabiamila (NFL Network) and co-host Kristine Leahy (Fox Sports).

American Ninja Warrior is based on the global hit SASUKE, now in its 31st season in Japan. Last fall, viewers were treated to an unbelievable season, which saw its first-ever $1 million grand prize winner when Isaac Caldiero conquered the Stage 4 course, modeled after the famed Mt. Midoriyama course in Japan.

This season, hundreds of competitors test their skills and see if they can make history and join Caldiero as just the second person ever to win the $1 million grand prize, and earn the title of “American Ninja Warrior.” New obstacles and several new cities await in the continuing quest for physical excellence, as American Ninja Warrior makes stops in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Indianapolis, Oklahoma City, and Philadelphia this season, before heading to Las Vegas for the four-stage Mt. Midoriyama obstacle course.
