The ignorance of mob rule is always a jarring sight to witness, but on occasion some unintentional humor arises from the darkest of circumstance. Beyoncé has set a wildfire of scary behavior from her fans, known as the “Beyhive,” after her surprise album Lemonade all but directly implicated Jay Z in a web of infidelity and matrimonial dishonor. While the record itself is a remarkably potent release that features Jack White, Kendrick Lamar and others, Bey’s hive of maniacally devoted fans have begun swarming at their perceived target, a blizzard of lemon emojis and cruel comments storming through social media. Unfortunately, TV food star Rachael Ray has been caught in the unlikeliest of crossfires.
The internet has been scoured for “her,” the woman Beyoncé accused of being a homewrecker with husband Jay Z with a mysterious reference to “Becky with the good hair” on the track “Sorry”. It didn’t take long for fans to boil the options down to fashion designer Rachel Roy who was reportedly at the center of the elevator-attack drama with Jay Z and Bey’s sister Solange. Funny enough though, Roy actually seemed to out herself on Instagram shortly after the album dropped.
Naturally, the Bey Hive swarmed Roy’s page with a wide assortment of lemons and wild-style shade — which is probably why her account is now set to private. She has since taken to Twitter to address the situation: “I respect love, marriages, families and strength. What shouldn’t be tolerated, no matter what, is bullying, of any kind.”
Naturally, hysteria is no place for a stable, rational mind, and in the confusion and vitriol a hilariously enormous number of people mixed up Rachel Roy with celebrity chef Rachael Ray. What’s ensued as a result has been a foodie’s version of the “yo mama” joke Olympics, with Ray receiving an avalanche of hatred and lemon emojis from simple-minded fans believing the gopher-faced TV chef is moonlighting as an Illuminati homewrecker.
Ray’s photos of sultry sandwiches and her 11-year-old dog Isaboo (in honour of National Pet Parent Day), were peppered with the worst insults.
As for Rachael Ray, the Food Network star, she’s already won the moment:
