Friday the 13th: The Game is Obscenely Violent

If you were concerned that Friday the 13th: The Game would tone down its subject material in order to appeal to a broader audience, then fear not, as two new short clips from the upcoming release all but confirm that it’s going to be even more violent than you’d probably expect.

The rather unsettling below video, debuted at PAX East 2016, highlights a new death animation that occurs when a player is successfully hunted down by antagonist Jason Voorhees, showing the horror villain crushing the skull of his victim by repeatedly slamming a door on her head.

Then there’s another new video which briefly highlights Friday the 13th: The Game‘s stealth mechanics, showing a player hiding underneath a bed before Jason bursts into the room and takes her out with an axe.

Watch the clip below:

Friday the 13th: The Game is set to be an asymmetrical multiplayer game in which one player controls Jason, pursuing a team of seven stereotypical teenage horror movie victims. Unlike most multiplayer games, the team of soon-to-be victims is never on the offensive, with them instead being tasked with avoiding Jason for as long as possible.

A new playable map was also revealed at PAX East, with the Higgins Havens property from the third and fourth movie set to make an appearance. It was also stated during a panel with the game’s developers that random elements will be introduced to each map, ensuring a different experience each time you play.

Friday the 13th: The Game is set to make its way to PS4, Xbox One, and PC later this year.
