You’ve got to give it to Kit Harrington and HBO. They’ve really committed to the whole “Jon Snow is dead” thing on Game of Thrones. And yes, Jon Snow was killed in the fifth season finale by some treacherous men of the Night’s Watch. But does anyone seriously expect that death to stick? Especially since Harrington is still sporting his Jon Snow-length hair and he was spotted on the set of season six multiple times?
Via Entertainment Weekly, here’s HBO’s official description for the sixth season premiere of Game of Thrones: “Jon Snow is dead. Daenerys meets a strong man. Cersei sees her daughter again.”
Well…that told us almost nothing. Congratulations, HBO! The name of the episode is “The Red Woman,” which presumably refers to Melisandre. And while Melisandre has never resurrected the dead before, the most popular theory is that she will have some role in Jon Snow’s eventual return to life. The same can’t be said for Cersei’s daughter, Myrcella, who was poisoned in the season finale. As for Daenerys, she will likely meet the leader of the Dothraki horde that found her last season.

HBO has also released the overall description of the new season of Game of Thrones:
“Following the shocking developments at the conclusion of season five, including Jon Snow’s bloody fate at the hands of Castle Black mutineers, Daenerys’ near-demise at the fighting pits of Meereen, and Cersei’s public humiliation in the streets of King’s Landing, survivors from all parts of Westeros and Essos regroup to press forward, inexorably, towards their uncertain individual fates. Familiar faces will forge new alliances to bolster their strategic chances at survival, while new characters will emerge to challenge the balance of power in the east, west, north and south.”
Game of Thrones will return on Sunday, April 24.
