Fans of brutal Australian outback horror are rejoicing today as the trailer for the new Stan original Wolf Creek series is here and it’s as bone chillingly terrifying as you’d expect.
John Jarratt returns as Mick Taylor, Australia’s favourite ocker shocker of a serial killer, who this time targets a family of American tourists on holiday in the outback to torture and kill. So a real cheery advert for Tourism Australia.
However things don’t go entirely to plan, and the twist this time is that 19 year old Eve – played by Lucy Fry of Vampire Academy – survives and vows revenge on the deranged bushman, the series then following her hunting him down. Setting it up as a bad ass female revenge thriller, although it’s sure to open with some of the franchises torture/gore/horror.
Also starring Deborah Mailman and a host of local and foreign talent including Miranda Tapsell (Redfern Now), Gary Sweet (House Husbands) and Robert Taylor (Longmire), the series looks more than set to live up to the films it’s inspired by. For those of use who relish in the film’s terrifying vision of the Australian outback, the chance to explore it over six episodes in very exciting.
