Through three feature films, Hollywood failed to get the Punisher right. This week, Marvel TV and Netflix are taking a crack at the Punisher in Daredevil season 2, as Jon Bernthal steps into the role of Frank Castle!
When Daredevil season 2 picks up, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) thinks that he’s won the battle for the heart and soul of Hell’s Kitchen. He’s wrong, of course. The battle is just getting started, and as far as Frank Castle is concerned, Daredevil is a fool for bringing a billy club to a gun fight. In Castle’s mind, the only good criminal is a dead one.
Netflix has released a new Daredevil season 2 video that explores Bernthal’s take on the Punisher and shows off a lot of new footage of Castle’s fight scenes with Daredevil. If the footage is any indication, the Punisher already has the upper hand on the Man Without Fear!

There’s a lot of talk that the Punisher might get his own series on Netflix after his stint on Daredevil. Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb has downplayed the rumors as wishful thinking…but is it really? Doesn’t it make sense for Netflix and Marvel to start thinking ahead of The Defenders before Luke Cage and Iron Fist premiere? Try not to look too shocked if Netflix orders a third season of Daredevil and a Punisher spinoff before the end of the month. Remember, Netflix renewed Daredevil after barely a week, so another fast renewal is very plausible.
Daredevil season 2 will premiere this Friday, March 18 on Netflix. That’s in two days, people!
