The Most Interesting Man In The World Leaves Earth Forever

For a decade, Jonathan Goldsmith has played the part of a lifetime for Dos Equis: the unnamed Most Interesting Man in the World. But today, The Most Interesting Man is leaving the world behind, not necessarily by choice.

Via Ad Age, Dos Equis is looking to reboot The Most Interesting Man in the World campaign with another actor. That seems like a mistake. But the company is also giving Goldsmith one final opportunity to say goodbye to the role that made him famous…as the Most Interesting Man boards a rocket to Mars, which can never return.

The last ad treats Goldsmith’s departure as an international event, as the Most Interesting Man divests himself of worldly possessions and says goodbye to a few thousand of his closest friends.

There is also a secondary video in which we get to hear the Most Interesting Man speak with a few of the well-wishers seeing him off.

Personally, I’m not a Dos Equis drinker, but I can appreciate a well run ad campaign. And there have been few campaigns to run more smoothly than the Most Interesting Man in the World. There was just something inherently funny about the man who “has won the lifetime achievement award, twice.” If there isn’t a book collecting all of the Man’s signature fake achievements, then there should be!

Vaya con dios!
