Flight Of The Conchords Announce U.S. Tour, Will Play New Music

It’s been three years since Flight Of The Conchords last hit the stage together but it’s business time once again with the Kiwi duo announced as the headliners of the Newport Folk Festival in July.

Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement will perform together at the festival, showing exactly why they’re New Zealand’s fourth favourite folk band (although that position may have slipped due to their hiatus).

The pair will play alongside a lineup that includes Father John Misty, Raury and Ray LaMontagne at the iconic festival, hopefully bringing back a bunch of their tunes from their HBO series which ran for two seasons, the last of which aired in 2009. During that time they also released two records; Flight Of The Conchords and I Told You I Was Freaky.

While it’s their only confirmed live appearance at this stage, it may not be the last. Clement promised that the Conchords would hit the road this year, saying that it was meant to happen last year but he was busy working on the film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The BFG.

Clement has been extremely busy over the past few years. He’s worked on films like Rio, Men In Black III, Despicable Me and Muppets Most Wanted.

His partner in crime McKenzie also worked on Muppets Most Wanted and also the last two instalments of The Hobbit. Last year Clement told Indiewire that the pair had started writing a Flight Of The Conchords movie. However, he gave no indication of when to expect that.
