Damon Wayans Sr. is officially too old for this s***.
Fox and Warner Bros. are going ahead with pilot order for the TV remake of Lethal Weapon, with Wayans in the leading role of Roger Murtaugh. In the four Lethal Weapon movies, Murtaugh was played by Danny Glover opposite Mel Gibson’s Martin Riggs. The TV version of Riggs has yet to be cast.
This will be Wayans first acting gig since his guest appearance on Happy Endings five years ago. He is best known for his starring roles in Fox’s In Living Color and ABC’s My Wife and Kids, in addition to his stint on Saturday Night Live, as well as the films The Last Boy Scout and Major Payne.

The pilot episode of Fox’s Lethal Weapon remake will be directed by Joseph McGinty Nichol (better known as McG). The premise is more or less the same as the first Lethal Weapon film, as the recently widowed Riggs is partnered with Detective Murtaugh, an officer whose heart condition means that stress could prove fatal. But this time, Riggs is a former Texas cop and a former Navy SEAL.
Former Chuck executive producer and Forever creator Matt Miller is writing the Lethal Weapon pilot and he will be an executive producer on the potential series. Lethal Weapon is one of the highest profile movie-to-TV adaptations of the current development season, including Frequency at The CW and Training Day at CBS.
Lethal Weapon’s pilot episode should begin production this year and contend for a slot on Fox’s Fall 2016 schedule.
