Noel Gallagher has spoken of his hope that his next album will result in “total anonymity” in the US, after calling out Kanye West by saying that the LP will be better than Waves.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Noel jokingly referred to his battles with breaking into the American music industry, saying: “I’m doing some stuff that, this time in particular, will get really, properly ignored in America,” he says. “I don’t just mean ignored like the rest of ’em. I mean properly ignored. That’s what I’m aiming for: total, total anonymity. I’m sick and tired of being in New York and being pestered by one person a month. That’s gotta fucking stop.”
However, Noel has already made some characteristically bold statements about his follow up to Chasing Yesterday, his second solo album alongside his band the High Flying Birds, posting an image of him in the recording studio alongside the caption: “So Kanye thinks he’s made the best album of all time? You might sell more Mr.Kanye but NGHFB will be better..FACT!”
Gallagher also used the opportunity to celebrate how “awesome” he is, concluding:
“I remain fucking totally awesome. In 2016, I’m as awesome as I was in the back end of 2015. My hair is impeccable; it’s not showing any signs of thinning, at all. I’m fuckin’ thriving. Thriving!”
The singer’s as-yet-untitled third album alongside the High Flying Birds has no confirmed release date, but Noel has stated that it was inspired by the late David Bowie. He’s also set to embark on a tour of the UK throughout April, beginning in Glasgow and concluding in Bournemouth.
