Showtime Teases Twin Peaks Revival In 2017

While Showtime originally planned to bring Twin Peaks back in 2016, that’s not in the cards. However, Showtime is still eagerly teasing the return of Twin Peaks in 2017.

Showtime has pre-released a new video that is set to be broadcast during the season finales of Homeland and The Affair this Sunday. The Twin Peaks video is more about reestablishing the mood of the miniseries and unveiling a new population sign for the town of Twin Peaks.

But it just wouldn’t be a David Lynch show if there wasn’t some kind of twist. Even in this promo video, the Twin Peaks team manages to throw something in that seems designed to spark some speculation about its intent and meaning.

The original Twin Peaks TV series ran for two seasons on ABC in 1990 and 1991, and it quickly became a cult favorite hit and even a cultural phenomena. Kyle MacLachlan portrayed FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper as he came to town to solve the brutal murder of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee). As the series went on, it became even more bizarre and difficult to follow.

MacLachlan and Lee will return for the new Twin Peaks miniseries alongside fellow Twin Peaks veterans Richard Beymer, Dana Ashbrook, Mädchen Amick, Everett McGill, and Wendy Robie.

It’s not currently clear how many episodes the Twin Peaks revival will run, but it is expected to be more than the nine episodes originally planned.
