Winter is coming.
The Stark family motto has never been more prophetic. Game of Thrones Season 6 is slated to drop in April 2016, and it will be the very first season of the series to go beyond the previously released novels from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. From here on out, everyone is on level ground regarding spoilers.
HBO has released the first Game of Thrones Season 6 teaser trailer, and it seems like it was designed to taunt fans with the fact that we ‘have no idea what’s going to happen.” There is absolutely no new footage in this trailer, which revisits several of the series’ most brutal moments, including the death of Ned Stark, the removal of Jaime Lannister’s hand, and Jon Snow’s bloody fate from the end of the fifth season finale.
However, the voiceover is brand new. And you may recognize the voice of screen legend Max von Sydow, who will be playing the role of the Three-Eyed Raven in the sixth season. Isaac Hempstead Wright’s Bran Stark is also briefly heard in the new teaser, and he hasn’t been seen on the show since the end of the fourth season!

When the Three-Eyed Raven met Bran in the fourth season finale, he promised that Bran “would fly.” This teaser certainly makes it seem as if Bran’s abilities have grown since we last time we saw him. Bran may actually be able to witness the events unfolding across the seven kingdoms and across the sea in Essos. Whether Bran will be able to change anything is another matter entirely.
Game of Thrones Season 6 will run for 10 episodes in April 2016, only on HBO.
