Pearl Jam Covers Eagles of Death Metal in Support After Paris Attacks

Exactly one week after the terror attacks in Paris, Pearl Jam paid tribute to Eagles of Death Metal at their show in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on Friday (Nov. 20).

The Seattle rockers showed their support in the tragedy by covering EODM’s “I Want You So Hard (Boy’s Bad News)” during their show. “We’ve never played this,” Eddie Vedder said before launching into a faster version of the song.

87 people were gunned down at the EODM show at Le Bataclan, the site of one of seven attacks throughout Paris. Among those killed was Nick Alexander, a 36 year-old man from London who was selling EODM merchandise with the band.

Eagles are now back home safely after cancelling their tour.

Pearl Jam also dedicated an altered version of “Love Boat Captain” to the Paris attack victims the day after the shootings at their show in São Paulo. Vedder altered the song’s lyrics to “lost 90 friends we’ll never know, oh, again today.”

Next week, Vice will air an interview with Jesse Hughes and Joshua Homme of EODM about the tragedy. Watch the incredibly powerful preview below:
