Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger have been cooking up a new TV project for quite some time, and with teasers finally trickling in, we’re beginning to get an idea of the epic nature of “Vinyl”.
Scorsese, Jagger and Terence Winter are heading HBO’s next big-scale project, shaped as a ’70s Wolf of Wall Street style film set in the sleaze and grandeur of the music industry instead of the financial district. Set in 1970s New York, record executive Richie Finestra (Bobby Cannavale) will stop at nothing to resurrect his label after falling on hard times in “the drug- and sex-fueled music business” while punk and disco are on the rise. Musical iconography is expected to be packed into the series, and we can’t wait to see who plays the legends of the era.
The show also stars Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, and cocaine. An ungodly shit-ton of cocaine. Here’s a look at the first trailer:
“Vinyl” debuts on Feb. 14th, 2016.
