Mourinho Charged by FA for Misconduct After Calling Referee “****ing Soft”

Jose Mourinho has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association after allegedly calling referee Jon Moss “****ing soft” during Chelsea’s match against West Ham.

Mourinho was sent to the directors’ box during half-time, and now the FA is waiting for an official report from Moss before it determines what Mourinho’s punishment will be. According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho refused to leave the referee’s room during the interval, with the manager reportedly telling the official: “Wenger was right – you are ****ing soft”. This was seemingly in reference to an incidnt which occurred during Arsenal’s match against Chelsea in October 2014, when Wenger shoved Moss but the referee failed to act.

Mourinho is already facing a one-match stadium ban and a £50,000 fine for his criticisms of the officiating in Chelsea’s match against Southampton, with his club currently in the process of appealing this punishment. There’s no word yet on whether they will also appeal this punishment.

Mourinho is suffering this season, with his squad losing five of 10 league games leading to the former Premier League champions currently residing in 15th place with a meagre 11 points.

He has also struggled when dealing with the press, refusing to confront them in a press conference following Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat against West Ham, and criticising their coverage of a video recording of him seemingly shoving a teenage supporter. A statement released from the Mourinho camp suggested that the boy had been following him for 20 minutes and had frequently interrupted a phone call he was taking, with Mourinho later talking of the lack of respect the British press have for him.
