After allegations and a public feud with rapper Meek Mills this summer, Drake is now being accused, once again, of stealing another artist’s work: D.R.A.M., who took to Twitter to call out Drake and his track “Hotline Bling,” which D.R.A.M. claims includes beats from his tune “Cha Cha.”
R&B songstress Erykah Badu also used social media to express her support of D.R.A.M., posting on Twitter: “@ONLY1DRAM we loved Cha Cha first. Very unique and raw. That’s That underground magic force that sparks a seed to grow a tree. . . Ms. badu”
D.R.A.M. tweeted on Monday following a Toronto performance: “Yeah, I feel I got jacked for my record…But I’m GOOD.” Earlier he wrote, “Bitter though, cus after my performance all I’m seeing is Cha Cha/Hotline Bling comparisons on my timeline.”
Following the allegations from rapper Meek Mill, Drake said, “I need, sometimes, individuals to spark an idea so that I can take off running,” Drake said. “Music at times can be a collaborative process, you know? Who came up with this, who came up with that – for me, it’s like, I know that it takes me to execute every single thing that I’ve done up until this point. And I’m not ashamed” (NME Magazine).
