It must be a slow news day at Fox News, as the network has run a story claiming that Marvel’s All-New, All-Different Captain America is targeting conservatives.
First some background: there is a relatively new Captain America in the Marvel Universe and his name is Sam Wilson. But he’s not new to the world of superheroes, as Sam Wilson was The Falcon, the friend and partner to Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, who personally asked Wilson to take over the role.
Marvel just launched a new ongoing series, Sam Wilson: Captain America. And the first issue of that series has the dim-witted hosts of Fox & Friends convinced that the Black Captain America is going after their fellow conservative brethren.
Note that one of the first images chosen in the video is new Cap’s appearance at a Gay Pride/Marriage Equality parade, which is just another subtle way for the Fox hosts to paint the new Cap as being against conservative values. But special mockery must be reserved for self-described comic book expert, Clayton Morris who had the nerve to say this: “Instead of going against Hydra and the typical Captain America villains, he’s going up against conservatives. That’s his new enemy.”
If Morris was an actual comic book expert, then he would know that the Sons of the Serpent are racist supervillains who have been around in the Marvel Universe for a long time. Just because they’re patrolling the U.S. and Mexican border doesn’t suddenly make the Serpents into law abiding conservatives.
But according to Tucker Carlson, “The [Serpent] is an American who has misgivings about unlimited illegal immigration and the costs associated with it. And that, according to the comic book, is evil.”
Let’s put it this way: if you identify more with the racist supervillains than you do with Captain America…then what does that say about you?
