Deafheaven‘s anticipated album New Bermuda is now streaming via NPR’s First Listen a week prior to its release, October 2 on Anti-. Vocalist George Clarke says that the he came up with the idea of a “New Bermuda” to describe a new destination in life, a nebulous point of arrival, and an unknown future where things get swallowed up and dragged into darkness.
Listen to the Deafheaven album New Bermuda from NPR’s First Listen:
George Clarke (vocals), Kerry McCoy (guitar), Dan Tracy (drums), Stephen Lee Clark (bass), and Shiv Mehra (guitar) deliver an extraordinarily innovative sound on New Bermuda that is simultaneously captivating and cathartic. Music has always been a salve, an anodyne. But it’s also an outlet, a reminder of the ugliness lingering in the shadows of a sterilized world. Ultimately, art is a counterweight, and Deafheaven reinforces this principle by making the most punishing music of their career in the wake of their greatest success.
Deafheaven will be embarking on a 30-date headlining tour of North America that begins on October 15th at The Casbah in San Diego and wraps up with two dates at The Roxy in Los Angeles on November 20 and November 21. Tickets are on-sale now. Digital pre-orders for New Bermuda are available with CD and vinyl options.
