I’m not one to offer praise to little Mousekateers turned pop icons because they look good in spandex and know how to shake their money makers on stage. I am, however, one who will offer praise to a beautiful girl with a serious set of pipes that’s successfully graced the tracks of ground breaking producers like Zedd, and the hottest hip hop artists on the scene like A$AP Rocky.
Yes, I’m talking about Selena Gomez and her latest track “Good For You” featuring A$AP Rocky and remixed by KASBO. While I was a partial fan of the original track, the remix brings it all to a whole new level.
The two tracks start off pretty similarly, but the new composition begins to take hold shortly after the second bar with the addition of a softly escalating high hat build up. This serves as solid transition into the chorus, which quickly explodes into a massive future bass drop – adding some much needed texture and depth to the arrangement.
After a sturdy bridge consisting of brushes on the drums and tropical notes on the xylophone, and a few more bars of Selena’s angelic vocals, A$AP comes in strong and sets the track spinning towards its conclusion with his signature acid rap lyric attack.
