The Walking Dead franchise is going where it’s never gone before: the formerly friendly skies!
According to Entertainment Weekly, AMC is planning a half-hour Walking Dead standalone special that will air during the sixth season. The premise of the special is that a zombie outbreak occurs on a plane, and a group of passengers will attempt to survive and get the plane landed safely. As a further twist, one of the survivors will go on to become a cast member of Fear The Walking Dead Season 2.
The Walking Dead special will be shown in small installments during commercial breaks for The Walking Dead TV series. Before that, the chapters of the special will debut online. This could be seen as the continuation of the Walking Dead anthology web series. But this will be the first time that one of the ancillary Walking Dead stories has been broadcast on television and directly tied into one of the series.
