No bells, no whistles. Just a teaser.
Director David Ayer (End of Watch, Fury) has been hard at work on Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad, a superhero film that is all about super villains. In Suicide Squad, many of the best-known villains in the DC comic book universe (including The Joker, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, Deadshot, and others) will be assembled in a mass introduction, intended to tie into Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and other films within that same continuity. Revealed in Conic-Con’s hallowed Hall H this morning was the first teaser for Suicide Squad, featuring footage of the cast in action. Margot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn, and Will Smith, who plays Deadshot, were in attendance to present it.

The teaser has not yet been released online, which may mean that the footage was truly a tease, and may not make it to the general public (at least not in any legitimate, studio-sanctioned fashion). If you were in Hall H, you had an exclusive look. Warner Bros. has been killing it in terms of publicity this year, as they have sheer volume of movie product on their side. After the trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and an announcement of the new Green Lantern film, it looks pretty rosy for WB-owned superhero flicks. Suicide Squad is set for release on August 6th, 2016, and will also star Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Jared Leto as The Joker.
