The Foo Fighters were forced to pull out of their headline slot at Glastonbury 2015 after frontman Dave Grohl broke his leg on-stage in Sweden, with Florence And The Machine now replacing the rock band on the Pyramid Stage at the Worthy Farm event. However, reports now suggest that Foo Fighters have already been booked to headline Glastonbury 2016, unless Grohl breaks his other leg next June.

With festival organiser Emily Eavis making it clear that she wants the Foo Fighters to appear at the festival in the future, The Sun is now reporting that this will indeed be the case, with one of those mysterious “sources” that the ‘paper always seems to have at hand, and who always speak using the same informal English colloquialisms, saying: “Dave was beyond gutted about pulling out of Glastonbury, especially at such short notice. But Michael [Eavis] was quick to book him for next year as he’s desperate for the Foos to headline. He knows they’ll go down a storm at Glasto. Dave agreed within seconds.”

While it certainly seems likely that the Foo Fighters will return to Glastonbury, it would perhaps be a little premature to conclude that the incredibly busy band would have already agreed to perform at a festival a year in advance. With that being said, knowing how thoughtful Grohl and the rest of the Foos are in regards to their fans, this little rumour could well have some truth to it, though given Glastonbury only announces its acts after tickets for the festival have gone on sale, we won’t find out until 2016 whether or not this is the case.
Despite the Foos’ absence from Glastonbury 2015, Grohl still stated that he believed the festival would be one to remember, pointing to Kanye West’s headline slot in particular and stating that the criticisms lobbed at the rapper could inspire him to pull off the “greatest show of all time.” However, considering Crave music editor Johnny Firecloud’s own experiences with Kanye at festivals, it could be argued that there’s an equal chance that he’ll flop on the Pyramid Stage. We’ll just have to wait and see.
