Turns out pop-punk champs New Found Glory are quite the heroes, and this week swooped in and saved an old horse, mere hours before it was due to be slaughtered.
As guitarist Chad Gilbert explained to TMZ, he was perusing social media one day for fan feedback on their current tour and happened to come across an ad for the 1-year-old horse, who also happened to be called New Found Glory.
After discovering the horse was mere hours away from being “slaughtered” Gilbert says he consulted with the rest of the band, who all came to the decision to front up the modest $350 necessary to save New Found Glory’s life.
With some assistance from Freedom4Horses – an organisation dedicated to ending horse slaughter – New Found Glory, the band, found an owner for New Found Glory, the horse, in Texas.
Gilbert also shared the news on Instagram. “Saved it and found her a home!,” he wrote with a snapshot of the horse. “She is somewhere in Texas now and I hope we get to meet her in person soon!”
The band have also informed followers that a page has been set up by the owners of the horse New Found Glory to help with her medical expenses. More information can be found here.
Well done boys.
New Found Glory the horse is safe and going to a forever home. Very glad we were able to make a difference! https://t.co/LeuK6wBHTD
