Stephen Hawking is set to make an appearance at Glastonbury 2015, with the world-famous scientist scheduled for the festival’s Kidz Field.
Glastonbury has previously seen the likes of Brian Cox hold talks over the course of the event alongside its typical host of musical performances, with Hawking now scheduled to entertain children from ages 12 and under (and their parents) in the kids-orientated portion of the Worthy Farm festival.

It’s unclear what role Hawking will play at the festival, with Glastonbury’s official website only listing him as making a “special guest appearance”, with him perhaps set to assist with another performance taking place on the Kidz Field. Other acts set to perform in the field include magician Dynamo and, er, the “Wonky Donkey”. No, I have no idea what that is, either.
Outside of the Kidz Field, The Who were recently confirmed as the third announced headliners for the festival, with them joining the other announced headliners Kanye West and Foo Fighters.
Though Hawking is obviously most famous for his work as a theoretical physicist and cosmologist, he has also dipped his feet into the entertainment world from time to time. Along with appearances in The Simpsons and Futurama, he recently performed a rendition of Monty Python’s ‘Galaxy Song’.
