Deftones New Album Planned For Sept. 26 Release

Deftones are set to return with the follow-up to their masterpiece Koi No Yokan in the Fall, according to frontman Chino Moreno.

Chino dropped the news during an interview with BBC’s Radio 1, sharing a tentative release date of September 26. It marks the first studio album since the death of founding bassist Chi Cheng, who passed away last April four years after a car accident left him paralyzed and comatose.

“It’s coming out really good,” says Moreno of the LP. “It’s just another Deftones record. And I feel like it’s us reaching a little bit, getting more into the song structures and trying to challenge ourselves a little bit, you know what I mean? It’s sounding good. I think it’s gonna’ be a great record.”

Chino also spoke to CraveOnline about the long-mythologized Eros album, which the band had recorded with Chi before his accident, calling the record’s release” inevitable”. Watch the full discussion right here.

The band will also be hitting the road with Incubus this summer.
