Here Are Screenshots of Valve’s Source 2 VR Demo

At GDC 2015 Valve showed off its HTC Vivevirtual reality solution for the first time to consumers and press. Demonstrated using a Valve Portal VR showpiece, impressions were remarkably positive, but only a few people were able to experience it.

Though we’ve already seen an off-screen video of what the demo is like, we now have our hands on images captured from the official PowerPoint presentation Valve used to introduce spectators to its work. Check them out below.

The visual style is very similar to the current Source engine, although you can see the visual benefit of the new supported technologies. Although visual fidelity is one area Source 2 is looking to improve upon its predecessor, it’s the free, open-source nature that Valve feels defines it. Valve wants to make every day users part of the development process, offering them intuitive tools to create and share content from their favorite games. This can already be seen on the Source engine with the Steam Workshop, but Source 2 will take it one big step further.
