The Sims 4’s First Expansion is ‘Get to Work’, a Career-Focused Package

Just half a year after launch, The Sims 4 will be receiving its first expansion pack. It’s called Get to Work, and it focuses on the career side of the game. More importantly, it tackles some of the shortcomings of the original release.

The Sims 4 Get to Work will introduce the following three careers to the game:

  • Detective – Investigate crime scenes and crack cases.
  • Doctor – Save lives and deliver babies.
  • Scientist – Conjure wacky creations and inventions.

Each of these new careers will be interactive, allowing you to take part in the career of your Sims, a welcomed change from the baseline careers included in the vanilla game.

In addition to these careers, Get to Work will also introduce an entrepreneurial side to the game. You will, for the first time, be able to buy and manage businesses. These businesses can be art galleries, clothing stores, bakeries, and more. Inventory management and layout are just two ways to personalize the business.

The Sims 4 is also receiving some new skills, which include Photography and Baking. These two skills can come in handy as a shop owner.

Lastly, aliens will be added to the game. Maxis hasn’t shared anything more than the fact that you will be able to “discover the mysterious Alien dimension”.

All in all, the new features and content in tandem with free updates (i.e. pools and ghosts) are exactly what the game has needed. Although, the price of the expansion is a hefty $39.99.

The Sims 4 will debut for PC and Mac in April.
