Album Premiere: Knifight Hit Their Synth-Rock Stride With ‘V’

The sound is rising. The build at the onset of opening track “Mistakes” is precisely the kind to grab our attention, a sound of imminent awesome that does not allow for distraction or peripheral focus. From the first moments of sound hitting our ears, we knew Knifight‘s latest would be an exciting and penetrating record – and that’s why Crave is proud to exclusively premiere their entire new album V right here for your aural thrills.

Vocalist John Gable started Knifight as an industrial project, with keyboardist/saxophonist Patrick Marshall joining the project nucleus. They performed as a noise duo, eventually finding their way into Austin, and formed into a full band, rounded out by guitarist Nick Garrison, bassist John Hetherington, and drummer Nick Cogdill. The end result? Imagine a far more rockin’ and muscular love child between Depeche Mode and Erasure.

Now, call it what you will – indie pop, synth, tech rock – it’s clear Knifight have found their groove. They may be the only group that’s played a noise fest and opened for Future Islands and Duran Duran in 2014, and dipping in both of those worlds has worked in their favor. They’re set to release their album, V on Feb 10th via KnifightMusic, and the release marks a brighter, more open sound… as well as their first album with live drums. Last year’s Dark Voices was a dark and dreamy spectacle, buoyed by the incredible voice of Gable amid a wash of otherworldly intensity. Expect a new evolutionary step below, with a full-album stream of V, exclusively on Crave:
