Oscar Snubs and Guest Star Derek Mears on Most Craved

It’s Oscar time at Most Craved and we’re all so terribly mad at all the Oscar snubs! Find out which films and filmmakers hosts William Bibbiani of CraveOnline, Jenna Busch of Legion of Leia and Silas Lesnick of Coming Soon are ticked off about, and what the bigger issues surrounding this year’s Academy Awards telecast are on yet another scintillating episode of the weekly show.

Joining us this week is horror icon Derek Mears (Friday the 13thHansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, “Sleepy Hollow”), who shares his insights about Hollywood and tells us all about his exciting new improv show The Resistance, in which stuntmen make up an entire motion picture in front of a live audience in Los Angeles. What the Hell Happened to ‘Selma?’

Ava DuVernay’s Selma is the most critically acclaimed movie nominated for Best Picture this year. So why did it only get two nominations, for Best Picture and Best Original Song? How come many guild members didn’t get to see the film in time to even consider nominating it? Is director Ava DuVernay one of the biggest Oscar snubs of the year? Does it have any sort of shot at Oscar glory anymore?

Everything Is NOT Awesome

The most shocking of all the Oscar snubs for mainstream audiences has to be the absence of The LEGO Movie from the Best Animated Feature category. What the heck happened? How are filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller reacting to getting left off of the ballot? And is there actually an upside to snubbing The LEGO Movie that the critics aren’t seeing yet?

Do We Even Need The Oscars?

Does the film industry really benefit from pitting movies against each other in a battle royale? Why does art need to be treated like sports every single year? Is it even fair to compare movies the way that the Oscars force us to? Or does the value of the Academy Awards go beyond who wins and who loses? Are the embedded Hollywood insiders, film critics and filmmakers complaining about a ceremony that, really, wasn’t even made for them?
