Nintendo made the announcement during its Nintendo Direct presentation, confirmed that only the XL version of the new console series will make its way to the US/EU. It will come with a suggested retail price of $199.99.
The larger model of the console does not feature interchangeable face plates, a key feature of the console when it was first announced during a Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation. However, it has been announced that it will feature near-field communication for interaction with Amiibos, along with improved 3D, faster processing and the introduction of the C-stick, a secondary analog stick that looks similar to the one seen on the GameCube controller.
This additional analog stick allows for greater camera control, with Nintendo showing off its use in a preview of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D. The company also unveiled a limited edition Majora’s Mask theme for the new console, which you can see below:
The system will be available in the colors New Red and New Black at launch.
