Forza Motorsport 6 Announced, Bringing New Ford GT and More

If you’ve been keeping up with Forza‘s successes this may come as no surprise, but Forza Motorsport 6 is officially coming to Xbox One. It’s currently in development by the one and only Turn 10 Studios, with no estimated release date. You can see the reveal trailer above.

So you might be wondering why it was announced in mid-January. Well, the short answer to that is because of NAIAS. The long answer is that Ford just debuted its new upcoming performance line, and Microsoft saw that as an opportunity to debut its partnership with the motor company.

Yes, that means that the upcoming Ford GT will make its debut in Forza Motorsport 6. It also means that the Shelby GT 350 Mustang and F-150 Raptor will come along for the ride, making their appearance on Forza before anywhere else.

And in case you’re wondering why everyone—check social media if you don’t believe me—is talking about the Ford GT, it’s not only because of its dashing looks, but because its pumping 600 horsepower from a mid-mounted V6 thanks to two extremely high PSI turbos (20+?). There’s nothing quite like it, and with it America adds a supercar to its roster.

Forza Motorsport 5 has sold nearly two million copies worldwide, and is among a star line-up of the highest rated racing games of the past decade. Forza Horizon 2, the latest from the series’ more arcade-esque counterpart developed by Playground Games, took our #2 spot for best games of 2014. It goes without saying that this announcement is a big one for the Xbox One.

Below you can see the real-life version of the Ford GT, Shelby GT350 Mustang, and F-150 Raptor as they were revealed today. All will be coming to Forza Motorsport 6.
