Watch David Lee Roth, Perry Farrell Join Foo Fighters Blowout Birthday Gig

The Foo Fighters threw one hell of a birthday bash for frontman Dave Grohl on Saturday, with Van Halen singer David Lee Roth joining the band, s well as Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell, Black Label Society’s Zakk Wylde, Slash, Nick Oliveri, Tenacious D, Joe Walsh, Paul Stanley of Kiss and more.

Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below, from a “An Evening With Foo Fighters in the Round,”a night in which tickets for the very special in-the-round performance cost only $50, benefitting multiple charities benefitting including Rock School Scholarship Fund, MusiCares and Sweet Relief.

Fans quickly realized the night was about to get amazing when Kiss’ Paul Stanley, who appeared on the New York episode of Grohl’s HBO travelogue Sonic Highways, kicked off the show alongside the hosting Foos by performing “Detroit Rock City” and Destroyer classic “Do You Love Me?”

Later, iconic Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash accompanied Tenacious D and the Foo Fighters for riotious renditions of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” and Queen’s “Tie Your Mother Down.” Of the shows many highlights, perhaps the biggest was when David Lee Roth arrived onstage to perform Van Halen’s “Panama” and “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love” with the Foo Fighters. Mindblowing as hell? You bet your ass.

Alice Cooper arrived to perform his classics “School’s Out” and “I’m Eighteen” with the Foos, while Wylde stopped by for a pair of Black Sabbath songs, “N.I.B.” and “Fairies Don’t Wear Boots,” as well as the night-ending performance of Chuck Berry’s “Let It Rock” with Slash and Lemmy.

The immortal Perry Farrell stepped in for Jane’s Addiction’s “Mountain Song” and a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Miss You,” while Trombone Shorty joined the Foo Fighters for the band’s “This Is a Call”.

The band will launch its biggest North American tour ever later this year, hitting arenas, amphitheaters and stadiums in the summer and fall.
