CES 2015: Sony Unveils New Walkman ZX2 Music Player… With Insane $1200 Price Tag

Because we can’t set our money on fire fast enough to accommodate novelty, Sony has unveiled a brand-new Walkman at CES 2015 that transcends the goofy limitations of its ‘80s throwback originator. The Walkman ZX2 is designed for modern day audiophiles, who also happen to have a shitload of money to burn: it’ll cost you $1,200.

The Walkman ZX2 supports a wide range of formats, including DSD, WAV, AIFF, FLAC, and Apple Lossless. It also carries Bluetooth capability and NFC for one-touch connections to external components. Sony called it “the fruit of continuous refinement in high audio quality technologies,” attempting to lead the pack of music-centric devices.

As The Verge points out, the texture of the black matte casing and carved playback buttons add aesthetic value, with a gold-toned headphone jack adjacent to a microSD card slot to supplement the 128gb storage built-in.
