Two PSG fans were stabbed following their club’s 3-1 defeat to Barcelona at the Nou Camp, with them being rushed to hospital in Catalonia.
The pair were attacked by two men wearing balaclavas whilst exiting the stadium, a police statement revealed, with one of the fans having being discharged from the hospital, whilst the other remains in care after suffering serious injuries. Fortunately, medical staff have stated that the injuries he sustained are not life threatening.
A statement from the Generality of Catalonia website reads: “Police officers from the criminal investigation division in Barcelona are investigating the assault of two PSG fans following the Champions League match held in this city last night.
“The incident occurred around 11 at night in the vicinity of Camp Nou. A French citizen who left the game was approached on Felipe de Paz street by two individuals, in dark clothes and balaclavas, and was stabbed.
“The victim, who was accompanied by other PSG supporters, had to be transferred to a hospital, where he remains. One victim suffered a stab wound and had to be transferred to hospital, from where he has already been discharged.
“The police are working to determine the exact circumstances of the facts and to detain those responsible.”
This is the second attack in as many weeks on football fans in Spain, with a 43-year-old Deportiva La Coruna fan being killed during a fight with Atletico Madrid fans in November.
