Christmas Bonus: Alain Johannes Reignites The Spark of ‘Endless Eyes’ (Exclusive Performance)

Whether or not you have the good fortune of a boss who’s into Christmas bonuses this year, we’re jammin’ things in your holiday hole all month long to keep that yuletide spirit alive. Crave has a whole run of musical holiday goodness in store this month, with a series of special previously-unreleased Christmas Bonus performances from our CraveOnstage archives

In other words, we’re bringing you a set of ridiculously killer musical treats we saved for the holidays: We first unwrapped a very special performance of Rhymesayers prodigy Grieves‘ signature track “Bloody Poetry,” complete with a Star Wars intro that positively kills. We continue in the spirit of giving today with another session outtake, this time from October’s Artist of The Month, producer and multi-instumentalist rocker Alain Johannes.

Having established himself as not only a cornerstone player in desert godfather Josh Homme’s universe, but a remarkably formidable independent musical force through both performance and production, Alain’s sophomore solo effort Fragments & Wholes, Vol. 1 displays a further evolution as a cigarbox-guitar slinging independent artist with an inimitable culture of sound all his own.

Just before heading to South America for a tour with Queens of The Stone Age, Alain met us at Swing House in L.A. for an exclusive studio session, resulting in a fantastic run of new material and seasoned favorites. We first debuted the understated, Beatlesque beauty of “Whispering Fields” and continued with the official unveiling of “Swan and Crow,” as well as another Fragments & Wholes track, “Kaleidoscope“. Now check out a Christmas Bonus outtake from the session, featuring a stellar performance of the Spark track “Endless Eyes”.
