It’s big news for Sony today, as it has been announced that Street Fighter V will be a PS4 console exclusive, with it also releasing on the PC.

The next entry in the hugely popular fighting game series will not be releasing on the Xbox One at launch, nor will it be coming to last-gen consoles such as the PS3 and Xbox 360. This will undoubtedly mean that the fighting game community, which spans thousands upon thousands of gamers, will be looking to invest in Sony’s new console ahead of the game’s launch.
Developer Capcom has spent the past few years releasing expansions and add-on packs for Street Fighter IV, the last entry in the series which garnered overwhelming critical and commercial success, launching the series into a new era with its artistic 3D visuals and abundance of new gameplay additions. The teaser trailer, which you can view above, doesn’t reveal much about the game, other than the blockbuster news that it will coming exclusively to the PS4 and PC.
Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono has headed to Las Vegas for Sony’s PlayStation Experience event, where he was likely going to showcase the trailer. It seems that Capcom slipped up by publishing the trailer on the company’s YouTube channel, as it was set to private shortly after its unveiling, though the video we’ve snagged above is from an external channel.
There’s no word on the game’s release date yet, though we should expect to learn more at the PlayStation Experience. One thing’s for certain, though: this is a huge coup for Sony, and a big blow for Microsoft.
