The 2015 Byron Bay Bluesfest has announced rock superstar Lenny Kravitz as the opening night headline act.
Kravitz is bringing his full 16-piece band to join the likes of the Counting Crows, Ben Howard, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and Jimmy Cliff when the festival kicks off celebrations on Thursday, April 2.
The 50-year-old will make his debut at the famed blues & roots festival as part of a world tour supporting studio album No.10, Strut.
“It has taken us years of negotiations and now, one of my dreams as a Festival Director, is about to come true,” Bluesfest boss Peter Noble said. “Lenny Kravitz has the hits – the charisma – the show. He is one of the greats of the modern Rock era… We still have more incredible artists to announce yet, so keep watching out!”
Bluesfest also noted that Kravitz’s festival appearance will be his only show north of Sydney, suggesting further dates could be right around the corner as part of just a third Australian tour for Kravitz in more than 20 years.
