Destiny’s The Dark Below DLC is Ridiculously Expensive

Bungie has revealed the pricing of Destiny’s The Dark Below DLC, and it’ll make your eyes water.

The price tag of the DLC is set at £19.99 in the UK – yes, half the price of the full game – while the US price is $20. That’s a startling price difference between both regions, with £19.99 roughly equating to around $33.00.

So what do you get for all that cash? Bungie has confirmed to Eurogamer that The Dark Below will boast a new set of story content for Destiny, some new weaponry and gear, three new multiplayer maps, one new Strike (PS4 owners of the game will also get a bonus Strike as part of Bungie’s exclusivity deal with Sony) and a new Raid called Crota’s End. The Light level cap will also be raised from 30 to 32.

It’s impossible to say whether or not The Dark Below will be worthy of its high price tag, though that is an awful lot of money for what sounds like a standard DLC expansion.

The main focus of this DLC is the story content, which will add new character named Eris to the Tower who will guide you through the new missions. According to Bungie, “the structure of the story in this expansion is different than the story in the core game” as the developer has made note of fan criticisms of the game’s campaign. Bungie did not elaborate on the changes they have made.

While we’re definitely interested in the new Raid mission, as The Vault of Glass proved to be the highlight of the core game, £19.99 is terribly pricey for the game’s UK audience. Let’s hope the content is worth it.
