Louis van Gaal Held a Crisis Meeting with Manchester United

Manchester United manager held an hour-long crisis meeting with Manchester United following the club’s humiliating defeat against Leicester City, striker Robin van Persie has revealed.

Van Persie, who is also coached by Van Gaal in the Dutch international squad, spoke to Fox Sports Australia about how Van Gaal confronted his team following the 5-3 loss, saying: “It shouldn’t be possible, but it still happened. We have to deal with it. We had a proper look at it the next day.

“Sometimes it was a bit confronting. It was a long meeting, one hour or something, but we went from there, started again this week and got a couple of really good sessions in and everyone feels ready to face West Ham.

“When you look at the defensive mistakes, it starts somewhere else. That’s what we looked at as well. It’s not just the one mistake that happens – there’s a mistake before the mistake and before the mistake, sometimes positional wise.”

Manchester United looked strong in the opening half of the game against Leicester, before their oft-discussed defensive problem once again reared its head and caused them to go from 1-3 up to 5-3 down.

Van Gaal took over his position at the club from David Moyes, the much-maligned former Everton manager who was accused of bringing the quality of the United side down to its lowest point in decades. However, if Van Gaal’s time at the position has proven anything, it’s that seemingly whoever leads the club at this moment in time will have a difficult job in pulling good results out of them.
