Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli is reportedly the man behind an anonymous, five-figure donation to the Manchester Dogs’ Home, after the home was the subject of an arson attack which killed 60 dogs.
According to an employee of the home, Balotelli had volunteered when he lived in Manchester during his time at Manchester City, and there’s a strong likelihood that he made the donation following last week’s tragic blaze.

Spokeswoman Jane Smith said: “Mario owns a dog but it was in quarantine in Italy so he used to come and walk all the dogs at the dogs’ home.
“We can’t yet confirm whether he made a donation but he is known as a big dog lover so it would make sense.”
Balotelli posts several photographs of his dog, named Lucky, on his Twitter page, and even brought him along to celebrate during City’s 2011 FA Cup parade.
The fire at the Manchester Dogs’ Home led to the arrest of a 15-year-old boy, who has been charged with arson. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denies these charges.
The home has received many donations worldwide since the attack, with Simon Cowell pledging £25,000 to help with the rebuilding of it. Many animal lovers from the surrounding Manchester area have also lent a hand, giving the surviving dogs a home following the fire.
