Video Premiere: Dirty Heads Drop Double-Shot Clips For ‘Burn Slow’ and ‘Medusa’

We’ve been feeling a bit of separation anxiety from Dirty Heads, after a kickass Summer run of exclusive green-screen interviews about their new album Sound of Change (grab it on iTunes) and specialty topics from each band member. Jared shared his love/hate relationship with Xbox One, while Jon went down the beers & brews rabbit hole and Duddy B got a serious case of the munchies. Now they’re back with two new lyric videos, premiering exclusively on CraveOnline.

“Burn Slow” leads the pair of clips today, featuring the world’s most successful independent rapper, Tech N9ne. “Duddy came on and he destroyed it and I was like ‘Oh my god, my verse isn’t even good enough,’ vocalist Dirty J recalls. “And then we got Tech N9ne on it and then he destroyed both of us and I was like ‘Fuck. Now I have to rewrite my whole verse.’ But everybody liked it. Duddy and Tech just destroyed that song.”

As for the intention behind the track, “It’s just a fun hip hop song,” he explains. “That’s it. That’s the bottom line. This is the thing with Tech N9ne, he’s insane…he’s a beast. We wanted to get people that we respect as lyricists, not only as hip hop artists or musicians, but we’re lyric guys. We really care about lyrics and we really care about looking into things like that and how you piece them and how you put them together and your metaphors and your punch lines – and he’s just so money with that. We were absolutely honored.”

Next we have “Medusa,” also from Sound of Change. When asked about the track, Duddy chimed in on the value of letting go of the need to overthink the depth of meaning in a song: “That’s probably one of my favorite tracks on the album. I love doing tracks like that where it’s just not really about anything. Just a fun track, nothing serious, and you can kind of just talk shit a little bit and have some funny punch lines in the rap. We worked with this producer Supa Dups. It was the first time we worked with him and it was a lot of fun. We just got in the studio and had a great time with that. Yeah….that one’s a banger, a favorite for sure.”
