Wait… What? There’s Going to be a Football Manager Movie Based on the Game

A documentary based on the hugely popular simulation video game series Football Manager is set to be released in the UK.

The movie, titled Alternative Reality: The Football Manager Documentary, will focus upon the series’ impact upon football culture and the inner-workings of the beautiful game.

Set to be shown for one night only on October 7th in Vue cinemas, there’s also a campaign in place via the official Football Manager site for fans to request it to be shown in their area, similar to the marketing campaign that was put in place for the original Paranormal Activity movie.

Speaking of the documentary, Football Manager developer Sports Interactive’s Miles Jacobson said: “The documentary isn’t our story – it’s the story of the people who escape to the alternative reality of being a football manager, and the effect this has had on their lives.

“It’s also the story of how a computer game made by football fans has become a part of the world it set out to replicate.

“But it’s not just for people who play – it’s also for people who’ve ever wondered why others spend so much time escaping into this world.”

Producers FilmNova will hope that Alternative Reality: The Football Manager Documentary will follow in the footsteps of Indie Game: The Movie, which offered an insight into the world of developers of independent games and achieved a great degree of success.

The film will be shown in Vue cinemas in the following locations across the UK:
