The 1975 Threaten Pop-Charm Overdose at Boston Calling 2014

Manchester imports The 1975 seem tailor-made for fans of The Neighborhood, Bastille and others who like their alt rock easily digestible. While rocking the midday crowd at Boston Calling, some of their cuts and harmonies bordered on ‘boy band’ pop, and while that may have gone over with the tween rockers in the crowd, they had a harder time winning over the people who’ve seen this kind of schtick before. They had their teenage fans in one of the biggest frenzies of the weekend, however, performing songs including “Chocolate,” “Girls” and “Sex” to ever-blossoming crowds.
