Adrian Patrick, lead singer of Otherwise, was kind enough to take some time to share his excitement and thoughts on the two festivals, which he equates to “rock n’ roll summer camp” as he outlines what the band is most amped to check out as they take part in each festival event. Check out Adrian’s guest editorial below, exclusively on CraveOnline:

Growing up in Vegas, I loved going to the huge rock festivals at Sam Boyd Silverbowl with my best buddies. Soaking up the sun, scoping out the ladies and being in the mosh pit with my comrades for hours on end are some of the best musical memories of my adolescence. Now, as a so-called “grown up,” I get to play even bigger festivals like Aftershock and Louder Than Life and it is perhaps some of the most fun a guy like me can have as a professional musician.

As I’ve said before, festivals are basically like rock n roll summer camp; it is an adventure to walk around the grounds meeting fans, experiencing new sights, sounds and flavors. And for a relatively young band like us, it’s exciting to see the crowds grow bigger right before our eyes, to see our band name inch ever closer and closer to the top line of the bill.

Of course, getting to watch some of our favorite artists from backstage is one of the biggest perks! It is a privilege to see how the best in the business operate, to witness what they do that makes them the incredible artists they are. There are so many amazing bands on the Aftershock ticket, I don’t even think I could pick a favorite. But I can say that my brother Ryan and I are especially stoked to see the return of the mighty Atreyu. That band has been so influential on our own development as a group and as fans of heavy music. Brandon Saller has become a friend and collaborator to us, making it all the more surreal and special to see them live in concert once again. Plus, our sophomore album “Peace At All Costs” drops around the same time, so Aftershock promises to be an historical moment for Otherwise.

As for the Louder Than Life Festival, obviously that bill is unbelievable as well! Again, we’re sharing the show with legends so to simply be included is an honor. But personally, I’m very interested in the bourbon distilleries that are also a part of this massive experience. I’m a big fan of Bulleit, Basil Hayden and Knob Creek so I’m excited to sample some new libations. I’m sure our management team doesn’t like hearing that, but I promise I’ll behave!

In closing, we realize how extremely fortunate we are to be booked on two of the nation’s largest and baddest festivals in less than one month; there are a million bands out there who would kill for these opportunities so we plan to make the most of them both. If you are a true fan of real rock n roll, Aftershock and Louder Than Life are where you need to be this fall! Come sing with us!
