Minecraft was one of the best-selling games of the last console generation, offering a watered down version of the hugely popular PC sandbox game. Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb took to his blog to discuss the growth of the game from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, writing: “With worlds up to 36 times larger than on Xbox 360, now there’s an even bigger canvas to create, with four player split-screen on one console or up to eight players over Xbox Live.
“Later this month, select retailers will sell the full game Digital Download Code and the full game packaged disc will be on retail store shelves globally this holiday.”
Created by Markus “Notch” Perrson and his team at Mojang, the last-gen console versions of the game were handled by 4J Studios, who are also taking the helm of the Xbox One and PS4 editions of the game.
