Premier League Clubs Using Football Manager to Scout Players

The Football Manager series is known for its meticulous attention to detail when it comes to replicating the stats of players from around the world, and now those stats are going to become available for Premier League teams to peruse and implement into their transfer plans.

Football Manager developer Sports Interactive has signed a deal with Prozone Sports which will see the archive of players the creators of the sports sim series has accumulated over the years placed in the hands of clubs worldwide, including Premier League teams. This will essentially mean that the same stats football fans use to increase the success of their fictional managerial career could now also used by the brains behind clubs ranging from Manchester United to Chelsea.

For those who have always fancied themselves as bedroom Jose Mourinho’s, this will no doubt inspire them to continue to push real-world responsibilities to the back of their minds now that it’s been revealed that their favourite managers are looking at the same stats that they are. Prozone Sports has even secured the rights to allow clubs to use Football Manager‘s user interface, meaning that when scouts are trawling through the extensive FM database, it’ll even look like they’re playing the game.

Last week it was revealed that Football Manager 2015 will be released in November, though little has been revealed about the upcoming game so far. Sports Interactive has stated that its features will be discussed in further detail in October. It’s also yet to be revealed how/if Sports Interactive is going to deal with the huge piracy issue the developer faced prior to the release of Football Manager 2014, after a cracked version of the game appeared online that reportedly severely hurt its sales. As such, sales of the game were down by 150,000 copies when compared to Football Manager 2013, despite the management sim seemingly remaining as popular as ever and the game being a notable improvement over its predecessor.
