TGS 2014: Big Third-Party PS4 Exclusive to Be Announced

Japanese site Esuteru has confirmed that there will be a big PS4 game announced at Tokyo Game Show 2014. This comes from the former editor-in-chief of Famitsu, making it seem very credible.

Esuteru’s post roughly translates into the following from Japanese to English (via Google Translate):

I heard the leading manufacturer and there (of PS4 title) is a big announcement from TGS.

The title is noted as being one that will “help the PS4 sell”, and appears to be third-party.

Given past Tokyo Game Show announcements for PlayStation, it seems likely that it’s Dragon Quest or Monster Hunter related. Whatever it is, it’s been emphasized that it’s something big, so obscure Japanese franchises can be thrown out the window.

There are sure to be more announcements during the show, some regarding new titles in development, and others for already known games. We expect to see new footage of Final Fantasy XV for the first time in months, as well as a possible surprise appearance by Team ICO’s The Last Guardian.

This year’s Tokyo Game Show will be host from September 18th to the 21st.
