Watch Karen O Drowning in ‘Rapt’ Video

Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O has returned with a new video from her upcoming album Crush Songs, and we’re growing more interested in this new project by the minute. Watch the weirdo chanteuse underwater in the clip for “Rapt” below.

Karen signed with Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records to handle the release of her long-awaited debut solo album. Due out September 9th, Crush Songs will be released as a limited-edition vinyl, featuring Karen’s handwritten lyrics and personal drawings. Standard format releases will also be offered, with pre-orders underway.

Karen says of the album: “When I was 27, I crushed a lot. I wasn’t sure I’d ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours.”

Recorded in 2006 and 2007, the record is reportedly an intimate collection of lo-fi, bedroom recordings in the vein of Karen’s Oscar-nominated “The Moon Song”.

Julian Casablancas chimed in on the release, gushing, “So excited, lucky and proud to be involved in such a classic album – I just wanna listen to it all day. Karen is an all-time great!”
